Koh Lipe is not part of the Koh Tarutao Marine Park, Thailand’s oldest marine park.

The birth of the Tarutao National Marine Park, and its recognition by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 1973, has led to the end of the nomadic life of the Chao Leh area.

Fortunately, there are still Chao Leh villages in Koh Adang and Koh Lipe.
